Sections and headings

Two jobs that live on the same tab: showing or hiding whole sections of an academy page, and setting the year that appears in a section heading. Both are on the Academy record, under the Section Display tab.

Show or hide a section

Use this when a section is not ready yet and you would rather show nothing than show something half-finished.

Where: Academies → click the academy → Section Display tab

  1. Go to Academies and click the academy.
  2. In the Academy Fields box, click the Section Display tab.
  3. Flip the switch you need:

    Switch Controls
Show Current Destinations Section The Current destinations block
Show Current Schedule Section The Current schedule block
Show Future Destinations Section The Future destinations block
Show Future Schedule Section The Future schedule block
Show Coaching Section The Coaching and Equipment block
  4. Click Update.

Do not use switches to retire old content

A switch only hides a section. If you switch off a section to hide last year's trips, those trips are still marked Current underneath, and the next person will not be able to tell what is actually live. To retire content, set it to Past (Rule 1). Switches are for "not ready yet" and for the year-end rollover.

Fix the year shown in a heading

This is the fix when a heading says one year but the destinations or schedules under it are for a different year. The heading year is typed in separately from the content (Rule 3), so it does not update itself. Headings are set by hand for each academy and never follow the content, so moving items to a new year does not change them.

Where: Academies → click the academy → Section Display tab → Academic Year Headings divider

  1. Go to Academies and click the academy.
  2. Academy Fields box → Section Display tab.
  3. Scroll to the Academic Year Headings divider near the bottom.
  4. Set the two dropdowns:
    • Current Academic Year, the year of the items in your Current sections.
    • Future Academic Year, the year of the items in your Future sections.
  5. Click Update, reload the page, and confirm.

Things to know about heading years

  • Each academy is set on its own. Changing Kayak does not change Climb. If several are wrong, fix each one.
  • They do not have to match each other. If one program's next session is further out, its Future year can be ahead of the others. That is intended.
  • One dropdown drives two headings. The Current Academic Year value shows in both "[year] Destinations" and "[year] Schedule". Same for Future.
  • Blank is allowed. If an academy genuinely has no content for one slot, leave that dropdown empty. The heading then reads just "Destinations" with no year.
  • If the year you need is not in the dropdown, create it first.
