Newsletters

The school newsletter and alumni magazine archive at worldclassacademy.com/newsletters. Each issue is one entry with a cover, the PDF and a few details. The website turns the PDF into a page-turning flipbook on its own, so there is no Flipsnack or other flipbook service to set up.

Where to find it

Newsletters in the left menu of the dashboard.

Before you start: get the files ready

Always compress the PDF: under 600 KB per page

Every newsletter PDF must be compressed to under 600 KB per page before it goes on the website. For example, a 50-page issue should come out at about 30 MB or less. Never upload the PDF straight from Canva: those exports are far bigger (past issues came out at 70 to 80 MB) and load slowly on phones. The website will not accept a newsletter PDF over 40 MB, but that is only a safety limit. Your target is always under 600 KB per page.

  1. Export the issue from Canva as a PDF.
  2. Compress it to under 600 KB per page. Send the Canva PDF to Michael to compress, and upload only the compressed file he sends back. To check a file yourself, look at its size in MB and compare it to the page count: 50 pages should be about 30 MB or less, and 24 pages about 14 MB or less.
  3. Export the cover too. Download page 1 of the issue from Canva as a JPG or PNG. This is the cover image shown on the archive page.
  4. Save the compressed PDF and the cover image in the shared drive under Admin → Newsletter / Alumni Mag, so they stay with the school.

How to add one

  1. Go to Newsletters → Add New Newsletter.
  2. Title: the issue name as readers should see it, for example Fall 2026 Newsletter.
  3. Fill in the fields:

    Field What to put
Newsletter Type Newsletter or Alumni Magazine (required)
Academic Year The school year the issue is from, for example 2026-2027 (required)
Issue Date The month the issue came out. Any day in that month works, because the site only shows the month and year. This date sets the order on the archive (required)
Newsletter PDF The compressed PDF from step 2 above, under 600 KB per page (required)
Short Summary Optional. One or two sentences shown on the archive card
  4. Cover image (box on the right): click Set cover image, upload the page-1 image, and in Alternative Text (a short description for screen readers) type Cover of the Fall 2026 Newsletter (with the real issue name).

  5. Click Preview to check the flipbook, then Publish.

If the upload is refused

A message starting "This PDF is … MB" means the file is over the 40 MB limit. Send it to Michael to compress, then upload the smaller file he sends back.

Academic year not in the list?

School years are shared with Faculty, Schedules and Destinations. If the year you need is missing, follow Add a new school year first.

Linking to it from the newsletter email

After publishing, click View Newsletter at the top of the edit screen and copy the web address from your browser. Use that as the button link in the MailerLite email. Link to the issue's page, not to the PDF file, so readers get the flipbook.

How it shows up

  • The archive page shows every published issue, newest first, with its cover, type and month. Visitors can switch the Newest first dropdown to Oldest first, and the Filter button opens search plus Type and Academic Year filters, with a Reset button. The Alumni Magazine filter only appears once at least one alumni magazine is published.
  • Each issue's page has the flipbook, a Download PDF button and a row of other recent issues.
  • The website footer has a Newsletters link.

Good to know

  • Links inside the PDF work. Readers can click links in the flipbook, so check any Google Doc or Drive link in the Canva file is shared as "Anyone with the link" before you export.
  • Do not delete a published issue. Old newsletter emails link to it. To take one down, change its Status to Draft and click Update, the same way as for a filled job listing. If you are unsure, ask Michael.
  • Fixing a typo in a published issue: correct it in Canva, export again, compress it (under 600 KB per page), then on the issue's edit screen remove the old file from Newsletter PDF, add the new one and click Update. The page address stays the same, so links already sent keep working.
