Academies¶
The five programs, and the pages that show them off. This is the hub that most other content flows into.
A sixth academy is on the way
Snow Sports is a planned sixth program, but it does not have a live program page yet, so this handbook still refers to five academies.
The idea first¶
An Academy record is the home base for one program: Kayak, Climb, Kiteboard, Mountain Bike, or Surf. It holds that program's page text, its banner photos and galleries, and the switches that show or hide sections.
It does not hold the destinations, schedules, or faculty. Those are separate records that carry an Academy label, and the academy page gathers up everything labeled for it automatically (the mailbox idea). So editing an Academy record changes the program's own words and photos; adding a trip or a teacher is done in Destinations, Schedules, or Faculty Members.
Two things called Academy
There is the Academies list (five records, one per program, holding page content) and the Academy dropdown on other records (a label saying which program an item belongs to). Same word, two jobs. See the Glossary.
Where to find it¶
Academies in the left menu of the dashboard. Click a program to open its record. Everything you edit sits in the Academy Fields box, split into tabs.
What each tab is for¶
| Tab | What it controls | Guide |
|---|---|---|
| Content | The words on the page: About, Apply, Coaching and Equipment blocks | Text and photos |
| Background Images | The large banner images at the top of each section | Text and photos |
| Galleries and Images | The photo galleries and the equipment image | Text and photos |
| Section Display | Show/hide whole sections, and set the heading year | Sections and headings |
How a page assembles¶
When someone opens an academy page, the page pulls together, in order:
- The text and photos from that Academy record.
- Every Destination and Schedule labeled for that academy, sorted into Current and Future sections by their status.
- Every Faculty Member labeled for that academy.
A section with nothing in it hides itself, and the Section Display switches can hide a section on purpose. That is why a section can be missing: either there is no matching content, or its switch is off.
Each academy page is its own page
The five academy pages are built independently, so they can differ by sport. A change to one is not a change to the others. If several need the same fix, each is done separately.
