Employment (Job Listings)¶
An open position, with its summary, qualifications, and application flow. This page covers adding and editing a job listing. What happens after someone applies is on Employment applications.
Where to find it¶
Job Listings in the admin.
How to add one¶
- Go to Job Listings → Add New.
- Title: the position title, for example
Teacher / Coach. -
Fill in the fields:
Field What to put Position Summary A short overview shown near the top of the listing. Keep it under 600 characters, the character count shows live as you type Job Description The full description Roles & Responsibilities Repeating block, one responsibility per row Preferred Qualifications Repeating block, one qualification per row Has Application Deadline? Switch. Turn on only if the role has a hard deadline Application Deadline The date, shown only when the switch above is on Select Academies Checkboxes for which program(s) the role belongs to. You can check more than one for a role that spans academies -
Click Publish.
The academy field here is named and shaped differently
On job listings the academy field is called Select Academies, not the plain Academy dropdown you see on destinations, and it is checkboxes rather than a single-select dropdown, so one listing can belong to several academies at once. The checkbox list also includes Administration alongside the five academies, for a role that is not tied to a specific program.
How it shows up¶
On the careers page, an archive of open roles with an academy filter, plus a single page per role. Each role page ends with the application form.
When a role is filled¶
Do not delete a filled listing, because that breaks any links people have shared. Instead, take it down without deleting it: in the Publish box, click Edit next to Status, choose Draft, then click Update. The listing leaves the careers page but the record is kept. If you are unsure, ask Michael. (If a role had a deadline and it has passed, the listing drops off the open-roles page on its own.)
What happens when someone applies¶
The application form collects the applicant's details and their resume, files the resume into a private WCA Google Drive folder, logs a row to a tracking Sheet, and emails the hiring group. The full flow, and where to read applications, is on Employment applications.
